terms
these are the rules for using disco hunter. plain language, no legalese. by using the app, you agree to them.
disco hunter is an independent project operated under the name discohunter. when these terms say "we" or "us," that is who we mean. when they say "you," they mean the person using the app.
disco hunter is a tool to track records you want, records you own, and where you have seen them in the wild. it links out to other services like spotify, apple music, bandcamp, and amazon, but it is not affiliated with any of them.
we may add, change, or remove features over time.
you need a google or apple account to sign in.
you are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. you must be at least 13 years old to use disco hunter. if you are between 13 and the age of majority in your country, you confirm a parent or guardian is okay with you using the app.
one person, one account. do not impersonate someone else.
disco hunter is for tracking records. please do not:
- break the law or anyone else's rights
- harass, threaten, or impersonate others
- post spam, malware, or misleading content
- scrape, mass-download, or automate the app without written permission
- try to break into the app, bypass auth, or interfere with other users
- use the app to resell or commercialize someone else's data
if you break these rules, we may suspend or close your account.
the records, sightings, notes, and shelf details you add are yours. you keep ownership of them.
by adding content to disco hunter, you give us permission to store, display, and process it as needed to run the service. if you make a shelf public, you also give us permission to show that content to other users.
do not upload content you do not have the right to share.
disco hunter links to and uses data from third parties, including spotify, apple music, bandcamp, amazon, musicbrainz, and map providers. we are not responsible for those services, their content, or their availability.
when you click an outbound link, that service's terms and privacy policy apply.
some links in the app, particularly to amazon, may include an affiliate tag. if you buy something after clicking, we may earn a small commission. this never affects the price you pay or which results you see.
we will try to keep disco hunter running smoothly, but we cannot promise it will always be available, fast, or bug-free. we may take the app offline for maintenance, upgrades, or other reasons.
this is an early-stage product. expect rough edges.
you can delete your account at any time from the support page or by emailing hunt@discohunter.com. when you do, we remove your records, sightings, and shelf settings, as described in the privacy policy.
we may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we shut the service down.
disco hunter is provided "as is" and "as available." to the fullest extent allowed by law, we make no warranties about the app, including that it will be accurate, reliable, or fit for any particular purpose.
record information (titles, years, prices, store details) comes from external sources and may be incomplete or out of date. always verify before traveling to a store or making a purchase.
to the fullest extent allowed by law, disco hunter and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages that result from using or being unable to use the app.
if we are found liable for something despite this, our total liability to you will not exceed one hundred us dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, whichever is greater.
some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you in full.
if we make meaningful changes to these terms, we will update the date at the top and notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. continued use of disco hunter after that means you accept the new terms.
these terms are governed by the laws of the united states, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. if a dispute arises and cannot be resolved informally, it will be handled in a court of competent jurisdiction in the united states.
this does not affect mandatory consumer protection rights you may have where you live.
